Solar Thermal - Hot Water
A solar thermal panel absorbs radiation from the sun and converts the resulting heat energy into hot water for your home. One of the great things about solar thermal systems is that new panels can be fitted to most existing heating systems - including combi boilers.
Solar Thermal Provides Hot Water Throughout The Year
It will work all year round although in the winter months it will be supplemented by your existing heating system.
Cut Your Bills: Sunlight Is Free
Cut your carbon footprint - solar hot water is a green, renewable heating system that doesn't release carbon dioxide or other harmful pollutants.
Is solar hot water system suitable for my home?
It is important to answer a few key questions in order to determine whether solar thermal is suitable for you:
- Do you have your own roof? Solar Panels need to be mounted on a roof facing east, west or south.
- Is your current boiler compatible with solar water heating? Most conventional boiler and hot water cylinder systems are compatible with solar thermal. If your boiler is a combination boiler (combi) and you don't currently have a hot water tank then a survey from Solar Air UK will determine if your system will be compatible.
- Do you currently have a hot water cylinder or enough space for one to be installed? Solar hot water needs to be stored in a compatible hot water cylinder designed to suit your property.
- Do you need planning permission? In England, you generally don’t require planning permission to install solar panels unless your property is a listed buildings or in a conservation area.
At Solar Air UK we are able to assess the suitability of your home and help you choose the best system for your needs.
Cost Savings

Other benefits of solar thermal include minimal maintenance costs and a prolonged life expectancy – 25 years or greater on well-installed and well-maintained systems.
Solar Air UK can also provide you with an annual service visit to ensure you system continues to work efficiently and reliably as possible.
